And meet the new home of the New York Mets.

At first glance CitiField is one hell of a place. Beautiful exterior, an entry rotunda where you can feel the baseball in the air and obstructed views that make you feel like you're in Fenway.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a 3rd generation fan of the Metropolitans and I love the new place. Where else in NY can you go to drop a guy in a Phillies jersey, walk over to the batting cage and take a few swings and then go play a Home Run Derby on Xbox 360 in reclining chairs overlooking a baseball game?

The V.I.P. club just above field level spans the entire length of the concourse and looks amazing. Attendants in the air-conditioned elevators to move you around the stadium (Elevators in Shea? Yea right).

The food isn't quite the same; no more dirty water dogs for the nose-bleed faithful, but they are pumping WFAN 660 into the bathrooms while you're away so you don't miss the game. 32" LCD TV's scattered around the stadium so you can keep up with the game almost make up for the bad architectural design laid out in the left and right field bleachers. From my first seats in the Promenade (read: Upper Deck) we were unable to see the left fielder or hits lined to the wall (which included a triple by G. Sheffield and 2 or 3 home runs). From the right field seats not near field level it's quite hard to see the right fielder and anything happening over there.

All in all if you're a fan of the game or a fan of the team you'll enjoy the experience in New-Shea. It'll take a few hours before and after games (show up extra early to hit up the amenities along the concourses) to really get a feel for the whole place and if you get a chance to get below levels and show up in the "V.I.P." sections near the offices, do so; they're a site to behold and any longtime Mets fan will have a blast (bring your camera).

Thrilla In Illa--noise

The essence of M.J. lives on in Chicago as the Bulls manage to make the Celtics submit in a thrilling triple Overtime game in Chicago, Il.

This game went back and forth with over 15 lead changes and some amazing shots by the Celts' Ray Allen in OT to tie the game up and keep the clock going. Setting a Celtics playoff record with 51 points Ray Allen was nearly able to finish the Bulls off and take the series but clutch play by Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose and co-Bull John Salmons was enough to force the series to game 7.

I'm not exactly a huge Bulls fan, but ever since the days of Mr. Jordan, Game 7 basketball involving Chicago has always had a different meaning. With these two storied franchises fighting for a second round birth and the Celtics missing their two big men in the middle I see the Bulls pulling another win out and moving on to the next round.

K.G., Ray Allen, look at it this way: At least you didn't lose by 58 points at home like the Hornets; you still have some pride at least.

Welcome To Round Two

With a strong performance by LeBron James and his squad mates out in Ohio the Cavaliers have been able to steamroll the Pistons and advance to the second round of the Eastern Conference NBA playoffs.

Putting up 25 points or better and at least a double-double in all four games of the series LeBron was able to knock the Pistons streak of six straight conference finals appearances to the curb.

Although you don't see a whole lot of talent surrounding Mr. James in Cleveland they've been getting better every year and this might be the one they take the gold home. With the only real competition in the playoffs lying in Los Angeles and three full series away the Cavs may have an easy trip to a ring and big money contracts in their near future.

When Wolverine was still a bad-ass?

What with the upcoming release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine a lot of people who have received copies of the leaked movie earlier this month have been spewing mixed reviews of the film.

First off, why is Gambit in the movie? Isn't he supposed to be dating Rogue 20 or 30 something years later in the chronology? I understand that at some point an alternate universe Gambit spent some time in the Weapon X program, but overall this was just a big miss. We don't need to squeeze him in somewhere just because we left him out of X-Men 3: Finish This Already.

Next. Cyclops? Really? Another miss. This guy's not supposed to be a high school student by the time Logan gets his Adamantium skeleton. Just because you killed him off in X3 doesn't make his appearance okay.

Other than these few glaring flaws, the movie looks like it might be entertaining for the casual fan. If you're a stickler for continuity, I don't recommend this one. If the producers start taking it easy with sentimentality and start ramping up what made the comic books so popular we might be able to salvage an amazing franchise in the future.

It's A Smalls' World After All...

Welcome to the inaugural post of Smalls' World. I'm Bushy Smalls and with the help of some other degenerates I plan on keeping some of you people out there updated on sports, games, and other crap that happens to interest us these days.

To get the scenery started I thought I'd throw up a quick shot of one of the more infamous heroes (anti-hero maybe?) of our generation, thanks to SquareEnix (formerly of Squaresoft fame. Good way to start off and hope he brings us some good luck.)
